Madvillain – “Madvillainy” review

When one of your Top 10 Producers & one of your Top 10 MCs come together for a full-length album, you’ll get one of the greatest albums I’ve ever listened to. Madlib’s production is flawless (reminding us he really is the Loopdigga by perfectly incorporating samples from those such as Sun Ra) & MF DOOM’s rhyme schemes are as mindblowing as ever. Also, the very few hooks and short tracks are refreshing to me because we’d normally hear 16 bars & a hook in hip hop tracks and for Madlib & DOOM to break away from that tradition tells me how passionate they were making this album & that this wasn’t an album that was made just for the money. You’re seriously missing out if you’ve never heard this album. Albums like this really don’t come very often

Score: 5/5
