RZA – “Digital Bullet” review

After dropping his underrated first full-length solo album Bobby Digital in Stereo just 3 years back, the almighty Wu-Tang Clan’s de facto leader RZA is back with a sophomore effort & it is a direct follow up to his previous full-length album. He resumes the role of his alter ego Bobby Digital but unlike last time, the production is more sample-based as opposed to the heavy keyboard-based production on Bobby Digital in Stereo. The opening track “Show U Love” is just the first page of the book as it basically talks about Bobby’s return. The track “Brooklyn Babies” has a consistent tempo change throughout & the verses brought to the table from him as well as fellow Wu member Masta Killa are just as equally entertaining. The track “Kiss of a Black Widow, Pt. 2” is a follow up to the track “Kiss of Black Widow” off of Bobby Digital in Stereo. but this time, it’s just 1 hilariously vulgar verse from the Ol’ Dirty Bastard. The track “Be a Man” is about this guy Bobby comes across & there’s actually a nice horn & soul vocal sample throughout. The track “Odyssey” has a beautiful samples “The Look of Love” by Isaac Hayes throughout & it’s about how wiser Bobby has become with time passing. I think I like it’s predecessor more, but I still think this follow-up is just as dope

Score: 3.5/5
