prettifun – “Funhouse 2” review

In front of us is the 4th studio LP from Charlotte, North Carolina rapper & producer prettifun. Known for his membership with the 4ersona collective, he would go on to put out 3 full-lengths & 7 EPs in almost 3 years prior to Victor Victor Worldwide signing him last fall & appearing on the new Lucy Bedroque mixtape Unmusique. mikey’s last album Funhouse was greeted to the same warm welcoming reception Pretti got & looks to expand the palpability of Funhouse by making a sequel.

Outtatown’s welcomingly playful rage atmosphere of “My Name” couldn’t have been a more appropriate intro talking about having fun with the money he’s been making while “Kisses” gets in depth regarding him not having to prove shit to anyone. “Fuck with Ya” produced by Ginseng suggests to keep blowing up his phone since he had to cop a new one covered in dough posted up in your hood just before the rage/plugg crossover “Famous” advised not to act as if he’s a huge star.

“Digital Love” gives his props to the Daft Punk single of the same name talking about his relationship struggles leading into “Last Wish” remembering his late grandmother. “Sides” clears up the rumors of him & another 4ersona member che having beef with each other when they simply haven’t talked in some time while “Heartbreaker” ties back into “Digital Love”.

Ending the first half of Funhouse 2, the lo-fi rage single “Unfazed” talks about starting a trend as a result of the waves he’s been making while “Different” professes that he feels like nothing’s been the same recently stepping on muhfuckas without a camp. “Internet” talks about having no fear inside of him because he’s self-aware of his artistic potential while “Back” speaks on his money addiction & there being no way out of it.

“idk wtf” combines rage, hardcore hip hop & digicore so asking for his vision to be trusted while “Infinity” talks about the endless flows he has in his arsenal & being ahead of the curve compared to his peers. “Hi-Fi 2026” finishes prettifun’s major label debut by announcing Hi-Fi 2 coming out some point within the next 52 weeks, which has me hoping it’ll surpass it’s predecessor when it comes to quality.

Honoring prettifun’s 20th birthday this weekend, Funhouse 2 feels nothing like a “deluxe version” of its predecessor & more of an eager standalone continuation. The production feels complexly layered compared to the original Funhouse embracing it’s experimental rage sound heavier than he initially did last fall aside from the occasional pop rap, trap, plugg, hardcore hip hop & digicore detours peeling back the vulnerability layers of his confessional approach to songwriting.

che – “Rest in Bass” review

Atlanta, Georgia recording artist che releasing his sophomore effort a month after its announcement. Starting as a member of the 4ersona collective under the original moniker murkio before settling on cheRomani+ & later abbreviating it, it wasn’t until more recently where he decided to build a solo catalog for himself by putting out the debut EP 3 over a year ago & followed it up in the form of X or the original version of his 3rd EP Closed Captions a couple summers ago. Crueger that same Halloween showed more of a Chief Keef influence & is saying Rest in Bass nearly 11 months since his highly acclaimed rage debut sayso says.

“Slam Punk” was a rage-inducing opener talking about a girl calling him “Based God” shouting out none other than Lil B whereas “Rolling Stone” turns up the hypertrap vibes talking about having the Devil on his shoulders telling him to go. “On Fleek” puts his vocal range on the forefront advising the opps to call it keeps leading into “Lip Filler” talking about being so dangerous that he could possibly die young.

Former 4-time WWE world champion, 3-time WWE United States Champion, future WWE Intercontinental Champion & 5-time WWE tag team champion Sheamus gets referenced on the 2-parter “Hood Famous” posting up with felons just before “Bossupp” incorporates another beat switch referencing both WWE Hall of Famer, former 6-time WWE world champion & WWE Intercontinental Champion Randy Savage and the inaugural 4th Rope World Tag Team Champion & current 4-time TNA World Tag Team Champion Jeff Hardy of The Hardy Boyz.

“Marceline” keeps the rage beats coming likening his girl to the character from the Discovery Global-owned Cartoon Network series Adventure Time because she only comes out during the evening leading into “Die Young” produced by gyro talking about not wanting to grow old & going out in the fast lane. “Hellraiser” by OsamaSon looks to stir up some shit & CXO going for an experimental trap direction instrumentally, but then “Dior Leopard” hits us with another 2-part song talking about relapsing on drugs.

xaviersobased continues the 2nd half of Rest in Bass joining che during “Mannequin” homaging the late great Kobe Bryant bagging 24 hoes together while “Black Swan” splits itself in half again talking about being uncancellable & turning up at Summer Smash last month. “MDMA” makes several callbacks to sayso says speaking up regarding his lifestyle of recording in the studio & doing ecstasy while “Never Too Young to Die” featuring Chuckyy talks about being on top instead of middle men.

“Eardrummer” kicks off the final leg of the LP on a cloudier note thanks to Ginseng addressing his consistency & rise to fame while the distorted “Doe Deer” talks about simultaneously being a monk & a punk. “Stagedivin’” discusses making the mosh pit at the rave even bigger dying on the hill of not fucking with pigs while “Ba$$” samples “Lemon Glow” by Beach House finishing the album by talking about doing drugs & not wanting to leave.

Starting the Christmas Day deluxe run, “King of Rock” gives the audience more bass taking about shooting at opps & arguing the rights for that very title while “Make Out with My Choppa” boasts of poppin’ 100 bottles for 100 thots kissing a firearm. “Holy Moly” talks about drugs having him moving in slow motion & never running out of bread while “Die Hard” divides itself into 2 halves homaging the iconic action film that people to this day debate whether or not it’s a Christmas movie.

“Cutthroat” talks about pulling up to a meeting high as Hell & keeping that very attitude while the self-produced “Monster” confesses to sippin’ lean like he’s sick, going beast soon as he pops some ecstasy. “Dirty Sprite” comes through with another 2-parter talking about drank once again while “Serve da Ba$$” references former IWGPヘビー級王座, 10-time WWE world champion & former UFC Heavyweight Champion in both TKO Group Holdings divisions Brock Lesnar.

We have che talking about putting in the work much like one of Rihanna’s biggest hits “Work” off her magnum opus ANTI on “RiRi” & once the distorted “Whippin’” featuring OsamaSon reunites 2 of the biggest artists in rage currently 1 last time admitting that both of them are still up in the kitchen like they’ve always been, “What’s Love?” talks about wanting to be told what genuine affection feels like & yearning for his girl to stick around with him until the evening.

“Freak Neek” shouts out the late Black Sabbath frontman & WWE Hall of Famer Ozzy Osbourne who tragically passed away earlier this summer although there’s a homophobic bar at the very beginning of the verse that made me raise an eyebrow while “UAV” talks about his preference of sleeping with his lover instead of taking ecstasy & cooking opps. The final bonus track “I’m Sorry” appropriately finishes one of the most beloved rage albums of 2025 apologizing for falling in love, only wanting a Mercedes.

Ditching the secondary digicore & electroclash influences of sayso saysRest in Bass hones in deeper on the experimentally hardcore rage sound of his debut last summer perfecting in his own way that makes it feel refreshing when it began to seem that the style was getting played out & taking heavier inspiration from Playboi Carti’s sophomore effort Whole Lotta Red celebrating it’s 5-year anniversary this Christmas by having che pushing this style of trap forward.

Skaiwater – “#mia” review

Skaiwater is a 24 year old rapper & producer from Nottingham, England, United Kingdom who began in 2019 off their debut EP After God Fear Eve. The 4ersona member would go on to put out 3 more EPs along with a mixtape & a couple of full-length studio LPs, the most notable being their sophomore effort #Gigi from last summer under GoodTalk Records & Capitol Records fully realizing on the potential that was shown on their earlier material. 7 months later, Skai’s looking to prelude their 3rd album with their 5th EP.

The intro “pop” brings together trap, pop rap, alternative R&B, rage, pluggnb & industrial hip hop telling their bae that they’ve been hustlin’ extra hard for her as of late whereas “feral” talks about being the one to find a reason to run away. “by the moon” expresses the fear of losing the woman they’ve seeing currently just before “wolf” featuring Rada talks about a chick who hasn’t slept in 4 days falling in love with the drugs they doing not even knowing either of their names.

“You don’t feel the same.” reaffirms the love they still has for this woman & suggesting she must think they’re a clown when they’re far from it just before “maria” addresses an individual with that very name wanting to own their heart. “ur song” is a tribute to their soulmate loving her for the way she is just before “manicinamerica” ends the the EP by confessing they’re far from sober wanting to hold Mia in their bleeding arms & asking if they can be a home to their partner.

Young Skai managed to push themself artistically back in June & they prelude the next LP in their disposal with what’s definitely the most I’ve enjoyed an EP from them. The production takes the UK hip hop sound & fuses it with pop rap, plugg, jerk, electropop, trap, alternative R&B, rage, pluggnb & industrial hip hop once more leveling up their pen-game like Skai did previously.

Rich Amiri – “War Ready” review

Boston, Massachusetts up-&-comer Rich Amiri returning for the final month of 2024 with his 3rd full-length studio album. Beginning to turn heads since the fall of 2021 off the strength of his debut EP Ethereal, the 4ersona member would go on to follow it up with 6 more EPs before signing to Internet Money Records & introducing himself to a wider audience on the aptly titled Evolution followed by the sophomore effort Ghetto Fabulous. He landed a spot in this year’s XXL Freshman Class over the summer & is now War Ready roughly 6 months later.

“Amiri Trendsetter” featuring OsamaSon finds the pair kickin’ things off with this psychedelic trap instrumental talkin’ about people bitin’ their styles & that life can’t be any better in 2025 whereas “Oh Myy” has a bit of a rage influence living life as if it’s a movie. “Don’t Make Me” hazily suggests that he can show y’all how to move & finesse thanks to Internet Money in-house producer Synthetic & venny just before “U Want That?” flexes that he’s at Maggianos with a baddie over a siren & hi-hats courtesy of Rio Leyva.

OsamaSon & Amiri link back up on the futuristic trap joint “I’m wit It” explaining that shit’s getting gnarly in addition to showing off their new sticks & everyone else’s glitching while “Touché” works in a hypertrap beat talking about bitches tryna fuck him for his paper being outta their minds. “Count My Bandz” with co-production from Taz Taylor triumphantly clarifies that the world don’t owe you shit, but then the hypnotic “That’s It” boasts his lifestyle.

“Hunchos” ends the first half of War Ready expressing his fear of telling a bitch that he loves her because he’ll feel completely stupid if she ends up cheating on him while “Same Old Me” samples “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” by Tame Impala to talk about those thinkin’ shit’s sweet being goners. “I’m Gone” admits that he doesn’t want to choose violence & he’ll dead any beef if they bring it to him over a rage-inducing instrumental while “Stormi Daniels” likens his girl to the titular pornstar.

Meanwhile on “Keep It Cool”, we have Amiri maintaining the hypertrap vibes saying y’all better keep it cool ’cause shit could get ugly at any point while the carefree “So Easy” talks about having his way. “Gutta Gutta” promises that he won’t ever switch on his Day 1s shell shocking people & leaving them wrapped up while “G23” turns the bass up staying focused off the adderrall.

“U Like?” reaches further towards the backend of War Ready turning the distortion up a bit addressing a mischievous bitch who doesn’t love him at all & actually wants to beef him coming to the apparent realization that he doesn’t think he can save himself anymore while “Day After Day” finishes the LP with a cavernous trap cut knowing he’s been making it look like a breeze as a result of doing it from the very beginning.

Starting the deluxe run with a bang, “Heavy Steps” that Toom of Vanguard Music Group helped laced asks how you saying you have a check when you can’t even afford your rent while the intergalactic trap cut “New Celine” talks about him refusing to cop a plea deal. “Ray Charles” happens to be the final bonus track of the 3, treating a bitch as if she’s the rhythm & blues icon not seeing shit alluding to his blindness when he was still here.

Many have criticized Amiri for having a supposed “lack of authenticity” & he pretty much takes the opportunity to silence those individuals by putting out an album that reinforces why he landed a spot the 2024 XXL Freshman Class nearly 6 months ago. Although he’s been experimenting with his music for a while now, he’s trying out more new sounds on here & it results in his most eclectic offering.

che – “Sayso Says” review

This is the full-length debut studio album from Atlanta, Georgia up-&-comer che. Starting as a member of the 4ersona collective under the original moniker murkio before settling on cheRomani+ & later abbreviating it. But it wasn’t until more recently where he decided to build a solo catalog for himself by putting out the debut EP 3 over a year ago & followed it up this past February in the form of X, which was supposed to be the original version of his 3rd EP Closed Captions over the summer which was a solid introduction to who he is artistically & personally. Crueger last Halloween showed more of a Chief Keef influence & is releasing Sayso Says with only less than a month left of summer.

“I Rot, I Rot” starts by hopping over an intergalactic trap instrumental from CXO talking about not needing any more new friends whereas “Saska, You Made It” turns the rage up celebrating his newfound success. “Pretend We’re Sleeping” encourages everyone to do their own shit working in some synths & hi-hats prior to “Get Naked” goes hypertrap again flexing his VIP status.

The message on “Enjoy Your Life” comes from a good place of heart maintaining the rage beats thanks to Ginseng telling his fans to enjoy their time here alive just before “Been There, Done That” has this bubbly hypertrap tone to the beat talking about doing it all. “Hex On My Chest, It’s Going Down” goes for a spaciously booming approach instrumentally advising to simply get through it & you’ll be ok leading into the energetic “Pissy Coffee” refuses to play games with anyone.

After the interlude, “It’s My Party & I’ll Die If I Want To” kicks off the other half of Sayso Says inducing more rage talking about not wanting peace anymore while “Don’t Tell No1” encourages people to come fuck with him over densely buzzing synth work with repetitive chord progressions & melodic synth leads. “Nunca Hacer Cocaina” incorporates a hint of digicore undertones speaking out against cocaine usage while “School Girl Sashimi” keeps the rage beats rolling talking about lust.

“Y.D.F.W.M.N.M.? (You Don’t Fuck With Me No More?)” whips up an ethereal trap banger calling out the people who switched up on him while the futuristic “Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things” wishes this bitch knew how he really felt. “Cut Off Your Hands” turns the bass up suggesting his girl should chop her hands off since she gives so much head & “My Favorite Color is Red” serves as a bombastic closer leaving blood everywhere.

Only a couple years in the game & I have no doubt in my mind that Sayso Says will take che to newer heights since it basically surpasses every expectation set out by his early EPs. His songwriting/performances are on par if not above Crueger’s last Halloween & I’d be reminded if I didn’t commend him for doing such an outstanding job self-producing a lot of it basing the LP’s sound primarily in the rage subgenre that he emerged out of.

Rich Amiri – “Ghetto Fabulous” review

This is the sophomore full-length album from Boston up-&-comer Rich Amiri of the 4ersona collective. Beginning to turn heads since the fall of 2021 off the strength of his debut EP Ethereal, he would go on to follow it up with 6 more EPs before signing to Internet Money Records & introducing himself to a wider audience this past spring on the aptly titled Evolution earlier this past spring. And with only a month left of fall to go, Amiri’s returning halfway through the 4th quarter to show off how Ghetto Fabulous he is.

“No Handouts” is a cloudy trap opener co-produced by Rio Leyva talking about bossing up becoming the man now simply tryna play it safe previously whereas “I Want Everything” expresses his desire to have it all over a cloudy backdrop with some hi-hats worked in also. “Quartermill” happens to be another atmospheric trap cut flexing that he’s got $250k on him prior to “Outta There” talking about rockin’ out the show & collect the check afterwards over a glossy trap beat from solely Rio.

The rage vibes throughout “1 Call” are pretty interesting as Amiri let’s it be known he doesn’t trust anyone just before the horn-inflicted “Illuminati” addresses the claims that some of these idiots out here have been making that he’s a part of the titular secret society. “Sticks on Ready” boasts that his whole team’s too rich ‘cause someone put on his guys accompanied by a futuristic trap instrumental, but then “Troops” acknowledges that everyone knows he ain’t a fool & I love the angelic trap vibes to the beat.

“Forza” continues the 2nd half of Ghetto Fabulous by bragging about racing just like the titular video game franchise over more horns & hi-hats while the vibrant “Codeine Crazy” produced by Taz Taylor & ReidMD from Vanguard Music Group is a dedication to the lifestyle that he’s found himself involved in since making music. “Ain’t Nothing” shows off how crazy he’s been going resurrecting the trillwave aesthetics of some of the previous joints that is until “Paper Bag Tags” goes for a playful approach showing a sensual side to Amiri.

The bassy penultimate track “What It Cost” draws near the end confessing he doesn’t know anything about old money even though he’s got a whole lot of new money these days & “Kurt Cobain” wraps it all up by hooking up a trap instrumental reminiscent to that of a retro video game breaking down the ways of him livin’ large now that his music career is taking off alongside his profile continuing to increase as a result of that.

Evolution showed a lot of growth in Amiri earlier this year & as a way of possibly ending his 2023, he’s giving everyone a glimpse into his Ghetto Fabulous lifestyle & making it as consistent as the previous body of work from him. Internet Money’s production continues to bring the best out of him as he flexes his newfound fame & fortune.

che – “Crueger” review

Atlanta, Georgia teenage up-&-comer che celebrating Halloween by dropping his 4th EP. Starting as a member of the 4ersona collective under the original moniker murkio before settling on cheRomani+ & later abbreviating it. But it wasn’t until more recently where he decided to build a solo catalog for himself by putting out the debut EP 3 over a year ago & followed it up this past February in the form of X, which was supposed to be the original version of his 3rd EP Closed Captions over the summer which was a solid introduction to who he is artistically & personally. However after dropping 2 singles earlier this month, he’s quickly following up his last EP in the form of Crueger.

“Ok Den” is a futuristic trap opener to the EP produced by CXO flexing that he has fat racks like Pumba whereas “Sayso” likens himself to a demon to his girl with a new Moncler coat for the season over a rage beat. “Busan” mixes elements of pop rap & trap melodically speaking on themes of romance just before the atmospheric “Batman” talks about feeling like the titular DC superhero. To start the 2nd half of the EP, “Gah Damn” dives headfirst back into hypertrap territory threatening that you don’t wanna play games with che since he’ll wet your block up leading into the pluggy “Right Now” singing about his trap falling off so she wants him over quickly. “That’s My Type” gives off a playful atmosphere describing his kind of woman while the dreamy “Badu” comparing his new chick to the neo-soul icon. The closer “Call Me” ends Crueger with 1-last rage beat telling his significant other to call him back.

If anyone came away from Closer Captions impressed as I was earlier this summer, then I’m sure that Crueger would fit well in your Halloween playlist this season. There’s more of a rage influence to the production compared to our introduction to che only a few months ago being based around trap & Chicago drill, but the plugg undertones were quite noticeable & he’s more inspired by Chief Keef. Also, cheRomani himself as a performer is continuing to improve & that goes for his catchy songwriting too.

che – “closed captions” review

che is a 16 year old recording artist from Atlanta, Georgia emerging as part of the 4ersona collective under the original moniker murkio before settling on cheRomani+ & later abbreviating it. But it wasn’t until more recently where he decided to build a solo catalog for himself by putting out the debut EP 3 over a year ago & followed it up this past February in the form of X, which was supposed to be the original version of his 3rd EP over here to my surprise. So with that in mind, I had to give the final product a listen almost 2 weeks since former MLW National Openweight Champion Alex Kane became the new MLW World Heavyweight Champion.

“blueberry bakwood” was a dope choice for the final single whether it be CXO’s trap production with undertones of both Chicago drill & plugg or che dedicating it to his personal favorite flavor of Backwoods blunt wraps whereas “sativa” works in a more atmospheric instrumental talking about the titular strain of marijuana although I’m more of a hybrids guy personally. The futuristically bombastic “fangs” flexing that he be toting heavy pistols & is able to tell who smokes wack shit, but then “????” gives off a more energetic sound talking about his lifestyle.

Moving on from there, “sol” blends some hi-hats & synthesizers telling his girl to slide through his spot on top of coming clean that he isn’t looking for closure prior to “canary” enhances the euphoric mood refusing to go out bad. The lead single “blac chyna” fuses trap with Chicago drill letting the drum off just before “sos” returns to an otherworldly vibe to the beat talking about his girl calling him papa & copping expensive Balencis.

The penultimate track “draco draco” gives off a more euphoric drill edge instrumentally acknowledging that he still be popping tags & wanting all his bread in the mail while the closer “frank ocean” produced by SOULJASPIRITS talks about not being with the bullshit & getting a foreign hoe some vetements over a wavy ass trap beat. The bonus cut “flip” officially caps off the EP with a synth-laced drill instrumental calling your hoe a dirty skank & going so cray.

Given that 3 was a solid beginning in che’s career & X started off the year by giving us a taste of what was to come, Closed Captions has cemented him as my personal favorite 4ersona member & he has more than enough room to grow artistically down the line. The trap production is cloudier with a hint of Chicago drill mixed in as opposed to some his previous works putting his life on wax by delivering some of his infectious performances of his career

Rich Amiri – “Evolution” review

Rich Amiri is an 18 year old recording artist from Boston, Massachusetts who’s been turning heads since the fall of 2021 off the strength of his debut EP Ethereal. The 4ersona member would go on to follow it up with 6 more EPs before signing to Internet Money Records not too long ago. So considering a new label deal, it’s only right for Amiri to shake things up harder than normal in the form of a 12-track/25 minute full-length debut.

“Mention” is a spacey trap opener produced by Taz Taylor, Nick Mira & Rio Leyva referring to himself as a top dog & telling this chick he genuinely loves her whereas “Don’t Feel Ya” works in some synths & hi-hats from Vendr talking about drawing a million as well as being the one taking risks whippin’ bricks. “Best Friend” keeps things in atmospheric trap territory detailing a hoe trying hard to get close to him just before the wavy “Friend of Mine” talks about hitting the lottery.

Moving onto “Salty”, we have a bassy yet hazy banger showing off his sticks until Lil Tecca tags along for the vibrant pop rap cut “Poppin’” that eventually became the album’s 3rd single to talk about the famous lifestyle that both of them are living these days. “Ballin’” finds him telling his girl that he wants to have fun with her tonight on top of a minimal yet rubbery beat, but then “Don’t Exist” comes through with a vulnerable letter to his ex.

“Ace” blends some pianos & hi-hats to brush off any & all nonsense that people try to send his way while the song “Casket” is a catchier jam about living lavish & running up the bag. The penultimate track albeit “Dirty Money” opens up on the benefits of his newfound success over a pluggy instrumental & to round things out, “Can’t Die” finishes the album with him over a rage beat Cxdy made talking about cutting off old friends & copping new bands.

TyFontaine was my favorite Internet Money signee up until he left the label quite some time ago, but Amiri most certainly continues to fulfill that roll with Evolution here. The production is as strong as it was on For the Better last summer & dude really does display how much he’s grown within the last couple years with some of his catchiest songwriting yet.
