Cody Manson – “Double Cups & Demons” review

Cleveland, Ohio emcee Cody Manson is back for his 3rd LP. For the last few years now, he’s been on one Hell of a meteoric rise in the underground whether it be him signing to Lyrikal Snuff Productionz or dropping his full-length debut Psychoactive on Christmas Day a few years back to widespread acclaim & the sophomore effort E=MC Skelter proved to be his very own classic. Cody unfortunately fell out with Ouija Macc at the beginning of 2024 which caused some 17%ers to turn their back on him immediately, but I still wanted to give Double Cups & Demons a shot since he remains a standout on the LSP roster.

The title track featuring Keith Stoned starts with chimes & hi-hats to tell us the only 2 things they’ve been seeing as of late whereas “Troublesome” also featuring Keith Stoned offers another trap vibe with a dark atmosphere showing off their disruptive tendencies. “They Love to Hate Me” produced by Stir Crazy stands as a highlight for me personally with it’s trap metal instrumental addressing the hate he’s been getting this year just before “27 Club” featuring Jamie Madrox & Keith Stoned hops over this off-the-wall beat from $crim of the $uicideboy$ referencing the list of celebrities who’ve died at 27 although Jamie out-rapped Keith in my opinion.

“Feel Like Dying” featuring a standout feature for Majik Ninja Entertainment’s head of graphic design Insane E & of course Keith Stoned finds the trio over dull trap production explaining that they themselves feel like they’re on the verge of death even though they kinda enjoy it on top of Insane E providing another high quality guest appearance much like Jamie’s while the solemn “100K” proves to be another standout giving a middle finger to friends preferably tryna touch that exact amount of money instead prior to the sinister trap joint “Shooters” featuring fellow LSP artist Claas showing off their mob ties.

Meanwhile on “Never Too Much”, we have Cody talking about doing too much & never enough giving off this bassy trap approach instrumentally leading into the introspective “All My Life” with it’s blissful musical backdrop that Charlie Beans provides striving when people have hated on him forever. “Limitless” featuring Keith Stoned radiates a dreary trap tone to the beat feeling like both of them are boundless while “Blood Money” featuring Bonez Dubb, Doc Gruesome, Gorilla Pimp & Keith Stoned serves as a decent 5 minute posse cut.

Danny Diablo joins Cody for the Memphis flavored “F.A.B. (Fuck a Bitch)” setting out to set the worlds of their detractors on fire completely while “Born Evil” featuring Keith Stoned clashes these guitars & hi-hats together staying high when they’re alone regardless if it doesn’t help them at all. “Scars” fuses grunge with trap encouraging everyone listening to remember exactly who the fuck you ate & “Sulfur” bombastically ends the LP politicking with the demons in his basement.

I’ve always shown love & support to both Cody Manson & Ouija Macc, so it’s a shame that neither of them are on good terms. Now do I think Double Demons & Demons is the best album that Cody’s ever done? No, I still very much have E=MC Skelter on top of the throne as far as that conversation goes. That said, it’s still not a bad listen. The features are hit or miss, the sounds he’s experimenting with are potently detailed & the Trife Life general’s letting off the steam that’s building up throughout 2024.

RazoR – “The NeveRending GoRy: The Nothing” review

RazoR is a horrorcore duo from Chicago, Illinois consisting of Tha Roka & Sin Rip. They introduced themselves to the underground wicked shit scene in the spring of 2016 by releasing their debut All Hail tha RazoR, which resulted in Scum signing them to his Denver gore hop powerhouse Lyrikal Snuff Productionz & making their official LSP debut on Halloween 2019 with heaRtless. 5 years later, Roka & Sin are linking back up to reintroduce themselves in the form of their 3rd full-length studio LP on the same day as Bloody Ruckus’ debut album Resurrection of the Broken Reflection.

After the titular intro, the first song “Raining Blood” begins by hopping over thunderous trap production declaring themselves as the kings of the hill whereas “D.T.O. (Death To Opps)” serves as a middle finger to all their opps. “Grosseries” works in synths & hi-hats warning they keep bodies in their fridge like groceries while “Beautiful” featuring Smallz 1 goes full-blown boom bap hauntingly getting hardcore.

“God Complex” goes for a grim trap vibe instrumentally to talk about having no shame at all instead possessing the feeling of pure vengeance just before “The Nothing” hooks up more kicks & snares personifying hate & the violence that the demonstrate. “Part of Me” switches into grisly trap turf again saying y’all a part of them now, but then “We’re the Ones” featuring Insane Poetry angrily warns to be aware if you take it far.

As for “Save Me”, we have Roka & Sin maintains the morbid trap flare from earlier coming clean that everybody got them feeling crazy lately leading into “Awake” infernally showing all y’all muhfuckas how phat they be on the mic. “Dummy” featuring Claas decently boasts that they be stealing bitches while the title track welcoming everyone to the pages of their life. The final song “Why So Serious?” ahead of the outro finishes the LP reminding that they’ll turn people into Casper.

heaRtless was a solid way of RazoR introducing themselves to the Lyrikal Snuff audience nearly almost half a decade ago & they return after all that time with what is easily my favorite body of work in their entire discography, turning up anticipation for the rest of the trilogy. It’s a whole new sound for the duo as they redefine themselves artistically, occasionally enlisting a few of their labelmates at points during the ride.

Bloody Ruckus – “Resurrection of the Broken Reflection” review

Bloody Ruckus is a 31 year old MC from Suamico, Wisconsin starting out in 2009 by releasing his debut EP Coming Out the Woods. This was followed up with the full-length debut Nightmarez from the Rez: The Rage, which was a popular piece of morbid art locally. The sophomore effort My Bloody Valentine after his 2nd EP Dark N Cold saw him gaining international attention since it came out around the same time as he infamously filmed a woman’s finger getting chopped off & her blood being drank a month after the 17th annual Gathering of the Juggalos in 2016, which was the last Gathering that Majik Ninja Entertainment performed at before they & Psychopathic Records severed ties only 6 months later. Scum signed Bloody Ruckus to Lyrikal Snuff Productionz once coming home & is following up his LSP debut Funeral Macabre with his 4th album.

“Vengeance” is this EVIL trap metal opener to the LP making it known that he’ll leave you in a body bag with the rest of your entire crew whereas “Night Terrors” featuring Rece’s Aura takes the cloudy trap route instrumentally talking about dragging the chains through the frost. “Cowbell Demon” turns the bass up to 11 daring anyone to step inside his slaughterhouse at their own risks & “I’m Gonna Nut in Your Urn” demonically calling out pussy muhfuckas.

DOWN6 joins Bloody Ruckus for “This World Hates Me” so both of them can get in their emo rap/trap metal bag for nearly 3 & a half minutes just before a personal highlight for me “Stop Glorifying Rats” angrily lashes out at people that praise snitches, which I am fully on board with. “Bright Lights” hauntingly encourages to let Lucy open up everyone’s 3rd eye whether you’re doing DMT or shrooms, but then “666 Up in da Sky” featuring C4$PA fuses g-funk & horrorcore excellently regardless of the average guest appearance.

“Misanthropic” kinda has this EDM flare to the beat detailing his dislike for humanity altogether hence the title leading into “Welcome 2 Wicked Wisco” mixing elements of both g-funk & trap together representing Suamico & the underground wicked shit scene as a whole. “Flatline” heavily warns everyone that anyone who takes him for a joke will be left with hollow tips in ‘em while “Modern Atrocities” featuring Warlord Colossus demonically talking about their brains not being the same.

As for “Say No More”, we have Bloody Ruckus eerily giving us a glimpse of his gangsta mindset living by the gun while “Lord of Grudge” unsettlingly talking about running out of medication watching shadows crawl again. “Omega” is this horrorcore/electronic dance hybrid leaving full clips in the mouths of anyone running their mouths speaking ill towards him while “Every Dog Has His Day” uncannily addresses the titular expression.

“Wendigo” nears the end of the Resurrection of the Broken Reflection getting on the rap rock tip once more referencing the evil spirit originating from Algonquian folklore while “Bring ‘Em to the Darkside” featuring Donnie Menace, DOWN6, Scum, Smallz 1 & Saw da Ghozt comes through with a 6-minute posse cut with a reference to the inaugural IWGPヘビー級王座, former 12-time WWE world champion, WWE tag team champion, 2-time WWE Hall of Famer & Real American Beer founder Hulk Hogan. “Reflejo Roto” heinously talking about being a broken reflection of a man & “Eternity” ends by hellishly painting himself as a demon on the throne.

Crazy to think that this the same guy who filmed that woman’s finger getting chopped off & her blood being drank because I vividly remember when the news of that broke out & never would I have thought that he’d sign to LSP & return home with his best album yet. The production’s more darker & refined than Bloody Ruckus’ previous material, overcoming all obstacles & letting new listeners know who he is.

Smallz 1 – “Defiled in the Lavender Fields” review

Smallz 1 is a 36 year old MC from Albuquerque, New Mexico who made her Lyrikal Snuff Productionz debut in 2009 off her full-length debut The Diary of a Black Widow shortly following her debut mixtape Sadistik Stylez. She has since become one of LSP’s most well-established artists putting out her sophomore effort The Crimson Kingdom, her 3rd album Mannequin, her debut EP Hourglass, her previous LP The Process of Elimination & more recently the Scum collab effort Blame Us. A week after the 24th annual Gathering of the Juggalos though, she’s putting her 2nd EP out on all streaming platforms.

“Gutted Eyes” starts us off with pianos & hi-hats promising to burn her competition & eventually herself asking why they judge here whereas “Way Below Average” featuring Scum takes a bouncier trap route instrumentally talking about those who got them fucked up. “Lately” goes full-blown boom bap refusing to trust anyone always fuckin’ shit up, but then “Nevermind” brings the hi-hats back teaming up with her legion of demons to kill y’all.

Beginning the 2nd leg of the EP, the song “Lower Them Down” keeps it trap showing no mercy towards her opposition while “Garbage” ruggedly talks about doing shit better than the rest of these bitches. “Dismembered Wishes” featuring Bloody Ruckus cloudily discusses their lives going on & their haters’ being done leading into the cavernous “Trash Day” callin’ out those who really ain’t gonna do shit. “Pandora’s Box” wraps things up wishing long & enduring suffering on her enemies.

Claas so happened to give us the 3-track EP couple weeks ago In My Head centered around mental health & of the 2 new projects that LSP had to offer the gore hop heads & juggalos, I’m finding myself catering towards Defiled in the Lavender Fields more than The Summoning. Generally, it’s sound balances boom bap & trap allowing Smallz to put her own Lyrikal Snuff spin on those styles.

Claas – “In My Head” review

This is the 4th EP from Arlington, Texas emcee Claas. For about 2 decades, this guy’s been steadily putting in work for the underground whether it be on it his own or as a member of groups like The Underground Avengers as well as VLNC & the Caarnivorz. He teased his previous LP albeit 3 with Lyrikal Snuff Productionz by dropping a trilogy of EPs leading up to it much like Strange Music used to do in 2019/2020 right before the COVID pandemic, culminating in This is Revenge being released in full 2 & a half years ago. He has since decided to take listeners In My Head over a month after UGA’s 3rd & final album Oblivion & 3 weeks since former AAA Mega Campeon, AAA Mundial Parejas Campeon, AEW International Champion, AEW World Tag Team Champion, AEW World Trios Champion, HoG Tag Team Champion, MLW World Tag Team Champion, PWG World Tag Team Champion, ROH World Tag Team Champion & TNA World Tag Team Champion Rey Fénix had his final AEW match in Claas’ city.

The title track has a morbid trap atmosphere to get the 3 song, 11 minute offering started demonically talks about demons following him with no end in sight while “In This Box” drearily acknowledges death at the door encouraging to let him in. “A Part of Me” ends the EP with a guitar & hi-hats talking about searching, but being unable to find.

Very much outside his norm, what we have is a culmination of the roughest stretch in Claas’ life dealing with everything that has happened over a 2 year span & finding a way to put all that into words. He tells a story of himself battling the thoughts in my head & finally coming to grips with the biggest tragedy in his life happening, slowing falling into the depths of dark thoughts in his head.

Scum – “Anti-Human” review

Denver, Colorado emcee & Lyrikal Snuff Productionz founder Scum moving on from the Dyin’ World Chroniclez trilogy by releasing his 15th full-length solo LP. Starting as a member of an experimental grind/noise band called Down Syndrome about 28 years ago, his solo debut Enter the Asylum just turned 20 this past winter & has outdone himself plenty of times since. Case in point: The GorefatherOut with the Old & recently his 3rd EP Bad Uncle fully produced by Chapter 17/Psychopathic Records in-house producer Devereaux last summer. I also found myself enjoying the previously mentioned Dyin’ World Chroniclez trilogy of course too & was certainly interested in the outcome of Anti-Human.

M.M.M.F.D. gets us started with “This Pain” morbidly talking about losing an addiction battle & doubting that heaven would let them in if they even try walking through the pearly that is until “Revenge is Cheap” grabs the ski mask & makes them bleed rather quickly over this gruesome trap instrumental. “The Past” takes the trap metal route stylistically blowing up in people’s faces similarly to that of an explosive barrel, but then “Float or Sink” featuring Big Hoodoo works in kicks & snares talking about swimming for your life.

“What U Leave Behind” has more of a cloudy trap flare to it tackling the idea of forgetting things that one may now regret as time passes by while “Bloody Mess” works in some guitars & hi-hats talking about leaving them curled up in a ball bruised & abused. The piano-heavy “When I’m Gone” featuring Madopelli presents self-mutilation at it’s finest clarifying it’s about those who’ll remember you when the hype is through as opposed to who’ll show up at your funeral just before “Unsobriety” goes trap metal again talking about being fucked up to cope with anxiety.

Smallz 1 joins Scum for “Pull Up” going for a cloudy trap vibe thanks to Fiasco Andretti advising to come through just to be murdered leading into “Cold One” featuring Lyte menacingly breaks down simply how cold both the Gorefather & the Psychopathic MonStar can be. “Guilty” wickedly talks about sitting in this motherfucker with a shotgun while “Daaamn” produced by Godsynth calls out an individual that he heard stole from those that you should never steal from in the first place & severing ties in the process.

“No More” featuring JP tha Hustler, Mista Doesha & Slyzwicked begins the final moments of Anti-Human in the form of all 4 MCs desecrating everyone who pushed them to the limit returning to the boom bap in the process while “Heavy Lies the Crown” continues the encore of the album with a synth-trap fusion talking about too much pressure steady caving in on his skull now. “Voicemail” ends the LP getting relatable over on top of kicks & snares needing someone to talk to as soon as possible rather than leaving a voice message.

Over 2 decades of giving the underground nothing but straight-up gore hop & Anti-Human continues to make that the case for the Gorefather himself. The overall sound is predominantly trap, yet you also get hints of trap metal & even boom bap so Scum can bring some his LSP brethren & even a couple Psychopathic Records alumni keeping the underground wicked shit scene alive & thriving in the distinctive styles of all performers involved.

M.A.D – “M.A.D (Me Against Death)” review

M.A.D is a 33 year old MC/producer from California City, California notable for being 1/2 of the duo Madopelli. Much like his partner-in-rhyme Ant Dog who put out his 3rd solo effort albeit LSP debut Sadistic Symphony yesterday, M.A.D himself has quite a few solo efforts under his belt already including Predominantly Me as well as Full Circle & 24/7. But considering the acclaim that Madopelli has gotten ever since Lyrikal Snuff Productionz signed them & Sadistic Symphony releasing a day prior like I said, it makes sense for M.A.D to go eponymous for his 4th LP by himself.

After the intro, the first song “Murder Music” opens the album with a bleak boom bap instrumental wanting his flowers when he’s here whereas “Tell on My Name” takes the trap route sonically talking about calling him Suge White since he’ll leave muthafuckas hanging off the balcony. “Ay Mad How You Feel?” brings back the kicks & snares with a soul sample in the mix admitting that he’s feelin’ incredibly high leading into “New Snuff Sound” by Madopelli putting a Snuff twist to the hardcore hip hop/boom bap style.

”Watered Down” incorporates more kicks, snares & even some piano chords calling out those watering themselves down artistically while “Gutted Like a Fish” keeps it dusty reminding that what goes around does in fact come around & that you’re only gonna hate your own self in the end. “Long Way Home” brings a bluesier flare to the beat for a dedication to those who never had a home & “Mt. Snuffmore” by Madopelli featuring M.M.M.F.D. establishes themselves as the LSP-equivalent to Mt. Rushmore itself.

Starting the last leg of the album, “Juggalo Love 2” is this acoustic trap crossover showing mad juggalo luv while “Go to Sleep” incorporates this high-pitched vocal sample with kicks & snares passionately asking why they be sleeping on his name. And before the outro, the final song “Feel Alone Again” concludes M.A.D’s best solo album yet going trap metal talking about loneliness.

Madopelli has quickly established themselves within the underground ever since signing to LSP & much like Sadistic Symphony which we got only yesterday, it’s counterpart M.A.D (Me Against Death) further exemplifies the freshness that they can do as solo acts. Very much indeed the best albums that they’ve done on their own. M.A.D is not only one of the most interesting producers rising in the underground wicked shit scene in the last couple years, but his hunger here is next level.

Ant Dog – “Sadistic Symphony” review

Ant Dog is a 35 year old MC from California City, California notable for being 1/2 of Madopelli along with having a couple solo albums under his belt so far in The Devil’s Deal & Here 2 Stay. Madopelli wound up signing to Lyrikal Snuff Productionz a year & a half ago with their last couple LPs both going on to become the best of their careers, so it makes sense for Ant Dog to put out his 3rd solo effort through LSP coinciding with M.A.D putting out the eponymous M.A.D (Me Against Death) later this weekend also.

After the intro, the first song “Sunday Service” is an organ-laced trap opener talking about taking a crucifix to your neck whereas “Sacrifice” featuring Scum works in some strings & hi-hats so both of them admitting memories of the past brings them to their knees sometimes. “World with No Sun” dabbles with trap metal talking about rolling with the lost & the lead single “Lifeless” by Madopelli joins forces for a wickedly off-the-wall banger.

“Stay Away” hauntingly asks if you can help him get through this maze called life over more hi-hats prior to the futuristic “Death from Above” flexes that he’s been puttin’ in work. “Blood Remains” experiments with trap metal once again to talk about the silence getting us nowhere in the end, but then “Poison” reunites Madopelli once more fuses heavy guitars & hi-hats seeing the darkness in one’s eyes.

Str8 Krazed joins Ant on the orchestral/trap crossover “Feel the Same” talking about the fact that they don’t know why they act the way they do while the morbid “Damned” featuring Bloody Ruckus morbidly finds the 2 clarifying that everyone’s damned anyhow. The final song before the outro “Come Home” featuring Rozz Dyliams finishes Sadistic Symphony with heavy guitars talking about surely running out of time.

The Devil’s Deal & Here 2 Stay both stand as fine examples of what Ant Dog is capable of doing on his own, but Sadistic Symphony really takes it to the next level as his most well-crafted body of solo material thus far & M.A.D (Me Against Death) tomorrow will surely do the same. Improved production, he shows his artistic versatility & the features all bring their own freshness to the table.

Donnie Menace – “Chainsaws & Boomsticks II” review

This is the 4th full-length studio LP from Stratford, Connecticut emcee/producer Donnie Menace. Emerging in 2008 off his debut mixtape The Threat & the leader of the Nitebreed collective, he would later continue to establish himself with the full-length debut Wrath of a Menace followed by his 2nd tape The Threat 2: Audio Sickness & his sophomore effort Bonded by Chaos. However over a year & a half ago by now, Donnie’s last album & his Lyrikal Snuff Productionz debut Chainsaws & Boomsticks was met with significant acclaim compared to his previous material joining the likes of Gully & E=MC Skelter. But for his LSP sophomore effort, Donnie’s returning with a sequel to his debut for the Denver gore hop label.

“The Boomsticks Reloaded” is a grimy, 2-minute self-produced boom bap opener unloading lethal battle bars on y’all whereas “Talk to the Chainsaw” keeps the kicks & snares in tact for a follow-up to the joint “Talk to the Boomstick” off Donnie’s last album with a reference to the late WWE Hall of Famer, former 2-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion, ECW Television Champion, 2-time WWE United States Champion, WWE Tag Team Champion, NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion, the oldest JCW World Juggalo Heavyweight Champion & 3-time WCW Hardcore Champion Terry Funk. “Take ‘Em Out” featuring White Cheddar looks to take out all competition over an organ-laced boom bap instrumental just before “Omen” samples “Trouble, Heartaches & Sadness” by Ann Peebles spitting the wicked shit.

M.M.M.F.D. joins Donnie for the bloodthirsty “Let Them All Rot” setting out to bring pain & destruction leading into “Run It Back” going completely drumless bringing it hardcore lyrically. “Another Scumbag Anthem” by Nitebreed pretty much lives up to the name conceptually returning to the boom bap, but then “Watch You Suffer” shifts gears into trap territory tackling more horrorcore themes.

“Where You At?” featuring Lex the Hex Master finds the 2 east coast lyricists joining forces for a hardcore anthem assuring everyone that they ain’t going nowhere while “Catchin’ the Bullets” gives me mafioso vibes from the instrumental to the subject matter from a gangster’s perspective. “S.M.B.T.M.D. (Suck My Balls Through My Drawers)” featuring the Super Famous Fun Time Guys says it all going for an old school vibe while “Body Shop” properly ends the album if you don’t count the “Lair of the Cenobites” remix with a ghoulish boom bap joint about dead corpses.

The first Chainsaws & Boomsticks was easily the most refined body of work compared to his previous material & the sequel here is as equally enjoyable as the predecessor from a year & a half ago. The production is primarily centered around boom bap with some trap undertones & a tight guest-list on top of the lyricism going from being boastful to straight gangsta & even murderous.

Caarnivorz – “CaarnivorouZ” review

The Caarnivorz are an underground duo consisting of Detroit, Michigan emcee Zitro as well as Arlington, Texas emcee Claas. One of whom is an established veteran in the wicked shit scene ranging from his own solo output to memberships with The Underground Avengers & VLNC to name a couple who’s been making himself at home with Lyrikal Snuff Productionz for the past 6 years, the other has been growing in popularity as of late after being co-signed by the Insane Clown Posse to point where I caught him live at the 2021 Gathering of the Juggalos & they referred to him as “the newest member of the Psychopathic Records family” in the liner notes of Yum Yum Bedlam a couple months later. The following summer, Zitro revealed himself as the Nain Rouge of Detroit & is now forming like Voltron with Claas for a debut EP.

After the intro, the first song “No Problems” is a dark trap opener to the EP cautioning that nobody wants to catch heat from them whereas “They Don’t Want None” talks about catching a case over an eerie loop with some hi-hats. “Too Bad” explosively calls out everyone who hates them because they’re not in their positions accompanied by a bassy trap instrumental, but then “I Want the Smoke” works in a vocal sample & hi-hats talking about being ready to go to war. “Don’t Get Involved” draws near the end of the Caarnivorz’ introductory project angrily advising that you’ll end up missing if you don’t do as the title suggests & prior to the outro, the final song “Fuck Around & Find Out” on a chaotic note expressing their desire to leave ‘em all dead at the end of the day.

I’ve been following Claas for about a decade at this point & only got introduced to Zitro during the pandemic, but I am a fan of both artists’ music & found it interesting that they were forming a duo together since they’ve never worked with one another previously on top of LSP putting it out. Unsurprisingly: CaarnivorouZ has me anticipating what comes from the Caarnivorz in the future. The production’s more trap-centered & both MCs match each other’s intensities well.
